What is Rebellion?

Rebellion will be a T1 Airsoft event where players will choose to be one of two factions in a fictional country. One faction will be the local government who controls the military and police, attempting to establish control of the region and enforce peace and stability. The other faction will be rebels attempting to fight for the rights they believe they should have and attempting to overthrow the local government.

The Story

Resistance...

The region of Oliveguay is a fertile land once known for its olive groves, vibrant trade, and proud history. In recent years, however, the people have grown restless. Wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few, and the government has become increasingly authoritarian. Into this climate of mistrust and anger rises Legion, a rebellion fueled by a sense of betrayal and desperation.

The Oliveguay government, led by a council of wealthy ministers, justifies its rule as one of stability and prosperity. But beneath its polished exterior lies corruption. Under their rule many have had their lands seize from them by the goverment with compensations being meager or nonexistent. The abundant resources found in Oliveguay are being siphoned off  into other countries such as Tanistant and Greenerland with apparent private deals to government officials.

With possibly elections coming up soon the local government of Oliveguay has started making pushes to establish military presences in large voting locations, citing increased crime and violence, despite pulic records showing a decrease in both.

Now under martial law, Legion works to uproot the local government while Oliveguay officials create Task Force Shadow King to maintain peace and order and hunt down and eliminate any Legion leadership.

Hearts and Minds

How to win...

There are three primary ways of winning Grayzone.

  • INFORMATION: In a war of insurgency, information is the most valuable of all currencies. Legions fights to uncover documents and files showing crimes against the Oliveguay people while Task Force Shadow King works to uncover Legion leadership identities.

  • HEARTS AND MINDS: The soul for Oliveguay is in the balance. This conflict won't just be won through violence, but through turning the hearts and minds of the populous against your enemy. Task Force Shadow King will have to navigate a warzone of insurgents blending in with civilians while Legion will have to work against smear campaigns blaming them for civilian casualties.

  • CONTROL: The people will not follow the weak. It is important to have shows of strength during this conflict ands how the people that you can win against your enemy. Legion will work to take strategic locations at specific times while Task Force Shadow King will disrupt these plans through tactical executions or enforced curfews.

Battleground Map

Buildings are marked with numbers in blocks, such as the 100 block, 200 block, etc. Areas in red are off limits. The map may be used with MGRS grid coordinates but also as a simple Alpha-Numeric grid system for ease of use.

Bleed-Out

When a normal participant is hit they may return back to their HQ immediately or stay where they are for however long they want. This allows them to wait for medics or simply head back whenever they feel like it.

However, once a player decides to "die" and return to HQ, they may not change their mind, receive Buddy Aid, or be reset by a Medic. They may only return to HQ at this point.

Buddy Aid

All participants should have between 3 bandages on their person.

When a participant is hit and becomes a "dead-man", they may be revived by any other still alive participant. The alive participant will take one of the dead-man's bandages and securely tie it around the dead-man's arm. Once finished, the dead-man becomes alive again and is back in the game.

Every participant may receive buddy aid once.

In order to receive additional buddy aids you must be wearing body armor.

Bandages may only be removed at your HQ or by a Medic.

If you are hit again and have reached the maximum number of Buddy Aids you can receive, you must respawn at your HQ.

Body Armor

All participants may receive Buddy Aid once. For every piece of armor you are wearing, you gain an additional buddy aid. Helmets and Plate Carriers are the only things that count as body armor. Chest rigs do not count as body armor.

If a player is wearing ONE piece of body armor (either a Helmet OR Plate Carrier), then they may receive Buddy Aid twice before having to respawn at their HQ.

If a player is wearing TWO pieces of body armor (both a Helmet AND Plate Carrer), then they may receive Buddy Aid three times before having to respawn at their HQ.

Medics

Medics are special participants who may "reset" a player's Buddy Aid count by removing their bandages.

To do this, Medics have a backpack full of water bottles. When they arrive at a participant with bandages they will give them a water bottle. The bandaged player will then drink the whole water bottle. Once the water bottle is finished, he will return the empty water bottle to the medic (don't litter!). Once the Medic has the empty water bottle they will remove any bandages on the participant.

Once a player has all their bandages removed they are essentially "reset" and may receive Buddy Aid again normally.

Medics can reset both alive and dead players.

Engineers

Engineers are special participants who may use rolls of orange tape to signify certain things during the course of the game.

Engineers can 'destroy' rebel equipment left out by rebel players by placing orange tape on them. Any items, such as body armor, chest rigs, airsoft guns, ammunition, or anything else that has orange tape placed on it is considered to have been destroyed by explosives. This tape can only be removed at respawns.

Other objectives given by staff may require engineers to use orange tape to signify detruction of objectives as well.

Rebels and Insurgency

Because Legion is a smaller force they are forced to use insurgent tactics, blending in with the civilian population when able. Legion players may switch at any time during play between being a combatant and a civilian. How they go about it is further explained in the Rules of Engagement section.

Rebel players may also drop their equipment at any time to become civilians. As long as they do not have armor or weapons on their person, they cannot be engaged by Task Force Shadow King players. Legion players are expected to use common sense thinking in these situations though- being in the middle of a firefight with Task Force Shadow King players and suddenly just dropping all your gear and airsoft gun will not work. But if a Legion player can drop their gear and gun off out of sight, they can move throughout the area without issue and may return to their gear later to engage against Task Force Shadow King players. However, if they return to their gear and find their gear has been marked with orange tape, it is considered destroyed and can only have the tape removed at their respawn.

Rules of Engagement

Task Force Shadow King has rules of engagement in this conflict. These rules of engagement are to prevent unncessary civilian casualties that could lead to the populous turning against the Oliveguay government.

Legion players cannot be shot by Task Force Shadow King players unless they are wielding  weapon or wearing body armor. While unrmed and unarmored they are considered civilians.

Legion players can be stopped and searched at any time while 'playing as a civilian' as long as the Task Force Shadow King player is within 20ft. If they attempt to obviously flee at any time, they may be engaged as a combatant as normal.

If a Legion player is stopped and found hiding contraband, such as armor, ammunition, weapons, or mission objectives, they can be 'arrested' by Task Force Shadow King players. Arrested civilains are considered 'eliminated' and head back to their respawn point.

Task Force Shadow King are allowed to aim, threaten, and fire warning shots to encourage civilians to comply with orders. They are allowed to give commands to civlians, such as keeping their hands up, etc, and Legion players are expected to comply.

Task Force Shadow King are allowed to return fire against Legion players and 'civilians' are expected to try and leave any area that is having active incoming or outgoing fire.
