Grayzone is a T1 Airsoft event where players take on the role of fictional Private Military Contractors (PMCs) hired by rivaling countries to conduct reconnaisance missions in a neighboring developing island-country after a meteor crash causes mysterious and disruptive energy signatures. The use of PMCs allows each country plausible deniability of military actions on foreign soil while still achieving strategic goals. The event will focus around investigating clues to uncover the mystery of the meteor.
When a massive meteor crashes into the remote jungles of Oliveguay, its impact devastates the surrounding area and unleashes an electromagnetic pulse that disables communication across the region. Strange reports of bizarre wildlife mutations and inexplicable phenomena begin to emerge, prompting the neighboring countries of Tanistan and Greenerland to investigate.
Under the guise of a humanitarian and scientific investigation, both countries deploy elite military PMC groups and research teams to the impact site. Tensions run high as each nation vies for control, suspecting that the meteor may hold strategic benefits in the ongoing conflict between Tanistan and Greenerland.
There are three primary ways of winning Grayzone.
Buildings are marked with numbers in blocks, such as the 100 block, 200 block, etc. Areas in red are off limits. The map may be used with MGRS grid coordinates but also as a simple Alpha-Numeric grid system for ease of use.
The Cobalt Sentinels is a PMC group primarily funded by Tanistan forces. There are no uniform requirements and Cobalt Sentinels players will be identifiable by blue armbands during play.
The Emerald River Syndicate is a PMC group primarily funded by Greenerland forces. There are no uniform requirements and Emerald River Syndicate players will be identifiable by green armbands during play.
Some participants will be given a white armband to identify them as Medics. Medics can reset bandages of other players and required to accomplish research objectives during the event.
Both Tanistan and Greenerland forces will have medics on their team.
The Ares Alpha app brings real-time position of your teammates, a hierarchical chain of command, mission updates from the game organizer, as well as transmission of information to the team leaders on the battlefield.
Leadership for both sides will have access to tablets and phones that track the location of leaders, allowing commanders to control each side's forces more accurately.
Command may use the provided systems to place markers for enemy forces, routes, and various other things during the course of the event for leadership on the field.
All leadership will be provided with radios during the course of the event to ensure that communication is maintained.
For all participants interested, command will provide training opportunities prior to the event to ensure that everyone is on the same page and doing their best during the course of the event!
Many objectives during the event will have QR codes attached to them that players can use their mobile device to scan to score.
The standard rules for the T1 Airsoft Outdoor Field are all in effect during the course of Battleground events. To read them click the link below.
When a normal participant is hit they may return back to their HQ immediately or stay where they are for however long they want. This allows them to wait for medics or simply head back whenever they feel like it.
However, once a player decides to "die" and return to HQ, they may not change their mind, receive Buddy Aid, or be reset by a Medic. They may only return to HQ at this point.
All participants should have between 3 bandages on their person.
When a participant is hit and becomes a "dead-man", they may be revived by any other still alive participant. The alive participant will take one of the dead-man's bandages and securely tie it around the dead-man's arm. Once finished, the dead-man becomes alive again and is back in the game.
Every participant may receive buddy aid once.
In order to receive additional buddy aids you must be wearing body armor.
Bandages may only be removed at your HQ or by a Medic.
If you are hit again and have reached the maximum number of Buddy Aids you can receive, you must respawn at your HQ.
All participants may receive Buddy Aid once. For every piece of armor you are wearing, you gain an additional buddy aid. Helmets and Plate Carriers are the only things that count as body armor. Chest rigs do not count as body armor.
If a player is wearing ONE piece of body armor (either a Helmet OR Plate Carrier), then they may receive Buddy Aid twice before having to respawn at their HQ.
If a player is wearing TWO pieces of body armor (both a Helmet AND Plate Carrer), then they may receive Buddy Aid three times before having to respawn at their HQ.
Medics are special participants who may "reset" a player's Buddy Aid count by removing their bandages.
To do this, Medics have a backpack full of water bottles. When they arrive at a participant with bandages they will give them a water bottle. The bandaged player will then drink the whole water bottle. Once the water bottle is finished, he will return the empty water bottle to the medic (don't litter!). Once the Medic has the empty water bottle they will remove any bandages on the participant.
Once a player has all their bandages removed they are essentially "reset" and may receive Buddy Aid again normally.
Medics can reset both alive and dead players.
Additionally, as medical personnel it is their responsibility to conduct research in the area.
Medics are the only players who may complete research objectives during gameplay.
This event will be held in February of each year.
All times are tentative and depend on players and various other factors.
